Exercise and the city

Urban living can be exciting for the mind, but it sometimes wreaks havoc on our bodies. Crowded spaces far from nature can be difficult places for staying healthy and fit.

We want to see how you stay in shape and enjoy the outdoors in the big city.     Do you do your stair-climbing at a museum like Rocky, or plot your running around skyscrapers or landmarks?  From yoga in the park to jogging on a nature trail to biking in the densest urban traffic -- however you renew body and mind in the city, we want to see it.

Show us your favorite green spaces, or take us to an urban swimming pool, or share photos from a pick-up basketball game.     Grab your cameras and show us your favorite places to get fit, from the toughest spot in your workout, or the beautiful views from your usual route.  We’d also like to hear you describe the challenges you face finding the space and time to exercise, as well as the creative techniques you’ve found to keep fit.

We’re especially interested in seeing the different ways city dwellers stay fit around the world – from Boston to Bangkok.  Your photos, video and stories could be featured on CNN International and CNN.com/Health – during a week of special coverage called “Urban Planet” – beginning Monday, April 5.
