Who taught you to love food?

CNN's food blog Eatocracy is unapologetically obsessed with food, eating, and the culture around it. It doesn't matter to us if you don't know Le Cordon Bleu from Captain Crunch -- you eat every day, and you've got a story to share.

For Kat, our Managing Editor, the sudden appearance of Madhur Jaffrey's cookbook in her family kitchen, prompting her Dad's exploration of Indian flavors each Sunday (in sharp contrast to otherwise dull weekday meals) set her on a lifelong, passionate pursuit of exciting flavors.

Associate Editor Sarah attributes her awakening to her local library and the works of Roald Dahl.

Says she, "I positively ate up his vibrant descriptions of lickable wallpaper in "Charlie  and the Chocolate Factory" and Bruce Bogtrotter's chocolate cake in "Matilda."  My first cookbook, which I proudly purchased with lemonade stand money at the  Benvenue  Elementary School book  fair, was even "Roald Dahl's Revolting Recipes.” Not exactly haute cuisine, but  the joy of cooking and eating became an omnipresent part of my life thereafter."

We want YOUR stories of that person, place, book, restaurant or dish that made you sit up and start to see food as more than just a 3x a day chore.

Share written words, videos and luscious photos if need be. This assignment is ongoing.
