For this week's CNN iReport Boot Camp, we're sharing insider tips on how you can sharpen your editing chops and make that fabulous story you want to tell really stand out.

Here's your assignment:

Choose an object that reveals something about you, or about someone you know. Tell a story about that object in a video no more than 3 minutes long or in a written piece of 400 words or less.

Remember to think of the story’s meaning and make sure you use that as a guide for what to include, what to leave out and where to begin. (If you choose to write about the object, please also send us a photo of you with the object).  Also send us your own quote about storytelling to add to our “words of wisdom” gallery.

Assignment guidelines:

Please choose either a video or written piece

Video length - 3 minutes or less

Written piece - 400 words or less
