HDR photography: Love it or hate it?

HDR, or high-dynamic-range photography, has gained considerable popularity in recent years. iReporter perryjohnson describes the technique this way: "HDR is where you take multiple images at varying exposure levels and then build them together using photographic programs."

The end result can transform an ordinary photograph into an image that looks like a painting.

HDR photography is not without its critics, though. Some complain that the end result is over-processed and unrealistic.

We want to know what you think. Your challenge is to take two photographs -- one using HDR and one using normal settings -- of the same subject. Afterwards, let us know which photo you like better and why.

Share your images by February 25, and your photos and opinions on HDR photography could be featured on CNN.

Update: This assignment is now closed and will no longer be accepting submissions. We compiled some of the best examples in this this gallery on CNN.com. Thanks for sharing your images!
