On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 people and setting off a massive leak 5,000 feet below the water’s surface that flowed for three months.

The disaster prompted iReporter and Pensacola, Florida, resident James Amerson to write a simple, but poignant message in the sand – "Dear Gulf, I’ll miss you."

Now, we want to hear from other Gulf Coast residents. The challenge is easy: Head out to the beach and write a message in the sand that sums up your feelings one year later.
