The way road trips used to be

From playing endless car games – license plate bingo, anyone? – to celebrating as another state border flies by, the road trip is a summertime staple in the United States.

But some travelers are cutting back on mileage due to gas prices well over $4 per gallon in several states. Could high gas prices spell the end of the great American road trip?

Send your photos and videos of highway pilgrimages past and present and share your memories. Are you planning to take a road trip this year, or are gas prices forcing you to stay put?

Show us your road trips from yesterday and today, and you could be featured on CNN. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, May 17.
