Boot camp: Capturing your images

One of the hardest parts of photography and videography is capturing the heart of the story in the smallest number of shots possible. It’s okay – and advisable – to shoot more than enough, but the key is the ability to edit it down into a small number of shots, which is what we will be covering next week.

Submit three unedited photos or a 30-second unedited video (this can be a 30-second clip from your three minute video), including a variety of shots. We want to see how strong your photos and video are and how well they convey your story, so do not include any titles, captions or text from you story in this assignment.

This assignment will be due no later than Monday, September 5, at noon E.T.

For more tips on taking good photos, check out Mark Hill and Matt Rond’s Boot Camp video from last year. Remember to also check out this year’s and last year’s Boot Camp page for more tips on storytelling.
