Make a video portrait

The all-new iReport is all about making your experience more personal and social. So it’s only natural that one of our first assignments is to get to know our community better.

Here’s the drill: We want you to shoot a 30-second (or less) video portrait of yourself. Put yourself on camera and tell us your name, where you live, and why you iReport. Then, include 10 seconds of yourself looking at the camera – no talking. (It might seem silly at first, but the end result – especially when paired with other iReporters’ videos – will be really cool. Promise.)

You’re welcome to shoot the video yourself or enlist a friend for help. Remember, though, that the goal of the assignment is to get to know YOU, the iReport community.

We’ve included an example video above and specific guidelines below.

Ready? Be sure to follow these steps.

Tell us your name, where you live, and why you iReport.
Include 10 seconds of video silence, just focused on yourself.
Keep videos under 30 seconds.
Feel free to get as creative as you’d like!
