Open Story: Unrest in Nigeria

On January 1, the Nigerian government ended a national fuel subsidy that held down fuel prices in the impoverished country. The decision caused fuel prices to more than double and sparked a wave of protests and strikes across the country.

The strikes officially ended last week with President Goodluck Jonathan's announcement of a rollback in fuel prices, but the country recently suffered more unrest in the form of a string of bombings and attacks claimed to have been carried out by the militant Islamist group Boko Haram.

Have you witnessed these attacks? If you're in Nigeria right now, help us tell your story, but please stay safe and avoid hazardous or life-threatening situations.
