Remembering Neil Armstrong

The image is iconic, Neil Armstrong in a white space suit delicately gliding across a rocky Moon landscape. A crackling microphone sends out a message that will live throughout time: “That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

NASA astronaut and Commander of Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong passed away on August 25, 2012 at the age of 82. He is best known for the first manned lunar landing, and making the first step onto the Moon’s surface. Armstrong leaves behind a legacy of exploration.

With his passing, we wanted to know how Armstrong impacted your curiosity in science and space. Share your favorite Moon photo that you captured and tell us what Armstrong’s walk on the Moon meant to you.

Update: Thanks for sharing your stories about Neil Armstrong! We highlighted a few of our favorites in a blog post on CNN Light Years.
