(CNN) -- Isaac made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane on Tuesday evening. The storm weakened to a tropical storm Wednesday, but officials warned that the Gulf Coast will have to endure many more hours of pounding rain. Isaac is expected to follow the path Hurricane Katrina took seven years ago.
Since the storm in 2005, New Orleans’ levee system has had $10 billion in improvements, and the city's pump stations have backup generators ready in case of electrical outages. Isaac could bring 14 inches of rain to the region, and as much as 20 inches are possible, the hurricane center said.
