Should affirmative action still exist?

The Supreme Court has once again taken up the issue of affirmative action, in particular in college admissions. Affirmative action, which began in the 1950s, refers to policies that take into account "race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin" to help underrepresented groups, according to the executive order on equal employment.

Abigail Noel Fisher has claimed that she was rejected for admittance by the University of Texas at Austin due to the policy, and has taken the case all the way to the nation’s highest court.

We’d like to hear from current students: Should affirmative action still exist in 2012? What are your thoughts on the policy? In your opinion, what’s the best way to ensure all Americans get a fair shot at going to the college where they want to attend?

Share your thoughts on the relevance of affirmative action today along with a photo of yourself. Your story could be part of CNN’s coverage.
